If a folder disappears, shows the wrong contents, won’t update, or appears in the wrong place, the issue is usually related to accidental moves, shared folder permissions, caching, or sync delays. This guide explains the most common causes and how to restore proper folder organization.
Folders can be moved accidentally when dragging or reorganizing.
Search for the folder by name
Look inside recently used folders
Check your root directory
Sort by Last Modified to see recent changes
If the folder was moved, it will not appear in its original location.
If the folder belonged to someone else:
The owner may have removed your access
The owner may have moved or renamed the folder
The shared folder may have been deleted by the owner
Shared folders disappear instantly when access is revoked.
Use the search bar to locate folders quickly.
Search the exact folder name
Try partial names or keywords
Check for renamed folders
If the folder appears in search, it still exists somewhere in your account.
If a folder was deleted:
It will appear in Trash
You can restore it within 30 days
Restoring the folder also restores all files inside it
If the folder is not in Trash, it may have been moved instead of deleted.
Sometimes folder lists don’t update immediately.
Refresh the page
Sign out and sign back in
Reopen the Folders section
This forces your account to sync with the latest structure.
Cached data can show outdated folder structures.
Clear cookies for OwlCloudHost
Clear cached images and files
Restart your browser
If the folder appears afterward, the issue was local.
If the folder appears differently across devices:
Test in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari
Try on another device
Disable extensions that block scripts or network requests
If the folder appears correctly elsewhere, the issue is browser‑specific.
If your account is full:
New folders may not appear
Uploads may fail silently
Folder creation may not complete
Freeing space can resolve missing or incomplete folders.
VPNs can cause sync delays or hide updated folder structures.
Turn off your VPN temporarily
Try again on your normal network
Test on mobile data if needed
If folders appear afterward, the issue is network‑related.
During high traffic or maintenance, folder updates may take a moment.
Wait a few minutes
Refresh your dashboard
Try again later
Temporary delays usually resolve quickly.
If you’ve checked everything and the folder is still missing or incorrect, the support team can help investigate.
