Why Was My Link Disabled

A public link may stop working for several reasons, including expiration settings, permission changes, file removal, or security protections. This guide explains the most common causes and how to restore access.

Public links can be turned off at any time by the file owner.

If you’re not the owner, you’ll need to request a new link.

If you set an expiration date, the link will automatically stop working once the time is reached.

Expired links cannot be reactivated; a new one must be created.

OwlCloudHost may automatically disable a link if:

You can re-enable the link after reviewing the activity.

🗑️ The File Was Deleted or Moved

If the file is no longer in its original location, the link will break.

If the file was permanently deleted, the link cannot be restored.

📦 The File Exceeded Limits

Large files or high-traffic links may be temporarily disabled.

Temporary limits usually reset automatically.

🌐 Browser or Network Restrictions

Some networks block public file links.

If the link works elsewhere, the issue is local.

If none of the above applies, the support team can help investigate.
